Principal's Message
Term 4 Week 8
Kia ora koutou
Thank you all for supporting our reunification drill on Monday. It was good to carry this out to see if our procedures were effective, communication on HERO and text message were sent and received and the community were able to follow the plan. We are now gathering feedback from you, staff and students so we can make adjustments to improve our plans. It is important you know where to meet your child in an emergency and that our plans are clear.
Last Friday there was much excitement at the park when team Ruru had their Cross Country and Athletics. Everyone took part and loved the older students from Kākā helping and cheering them on. It was great to see a number of our Year 8s run with them to ensure they followed the Cross Country route.

In Tieke today, I had the pleasure of listening to Year 4 students confidently share their presentations on creatures under the sea and how we need to protect them. Ruru iti were also in the audience and listened with interest then had some great questions to ask.
Tieke will be going to have an overnight experience at the Zoo tomorrow and this opportunity will be a great way for the class to conclude the focus on animals and habitats. A huge thank you to Alex for all the preparation and organisation involved when students are staying away from home for a night. Thank you to parents who are also staying the night, we hope everyone manages to sleep!

If you would like to come and chat or have any concerns please get in touch with any of the senior leadership team, Andrea, Judith and Grant.
Ngā mihi nui

End of Year Hui for Teams and the School

Ruru Tuesday 17th December at 9am in Te Kōhanga
We will have our final school assembly on Wednesday 18th December from 9:30-10:30 at the Northland Community Centre. We will celebrate all the mahi from 2024, farewell our leavers and enjoy a final performance from the Kapa Haka and the Music performance group. School finishes midday on Wednesday 18th December.
Stationery for 2025
From feedback within our school community we have reverted back to families providing stationery for the school year. We will be posting each Year group's stationery requirements on the school website next week and on HERO.
You can also order through OfficeMax or you can make a day of it and take the lists to whichever stationery provider you like, we will have a small supply at school for students to purchase as they use up the books throughout the year. We have some items (code books, book bags) that the school will purchase and enter onto your Hero accounts.
** New entrant students, starting school in 2025, stationery will be purchased by the school and ready in their classes for the year to begin.
From Year 5 onwards children are encouraged to have their own pencil cases with their named pens and pencils, erasers etc.
Any queries please let us know, thank you
